Ten Tips in Raising Kittens
Raising kittens can either be highly gratifying or extremely exasperating. And sometimes it’s a little bit of both. Raising kittens especially the new ones can be a success if you follow the following advises and tips.
1. Once you’ve set your mind on raising kittens then be prepared. Read helpful books or search the net for websites that focuses on the proper way of kitten care. And then put everything in order to make the
kitten feel at home. Buy kitten foods, beds and litter boxes.
2. Be touchy. Hold the kitten as often as you can. Kittens that are constantly being handled and stroked can turn into a loving and devoted cat. Continuously stroking them is a sure fire way on teaching and raising kittens to enjoy your caress thus making them familiar with your scent and touch. And if there are kids around, make sure to teach them correct way of handling the kittens.
3. Make an effort to give the kittens everyday grooming like bathing and ear/eyes cleaning. Doing this everyday when the kittens are young can make them feel at ease and relax which will be advantageous to you when they grew up since they won’t make a fuss about everyday washing. Your kittens health is your responsibility too.
4. Familiarize the kittens with the daily or routinely constant in your life as early as possible. If you bought them cat carriers then practice placing them there even when you’re not traveling. Acquaint them with the places where you usually hang out and introduce them with the people and other animals that are constant in your life.
5. To avoid relentless scratching from them try to create a more playful environment. Talk with them, play with them, do different activities with them both as a bonding time and means to avoid damaged fixtures.
6. With raising kittens you need to try feeding them with different kinds of kitten foods. With so many varieties in the market and a tip from your pet doctor you can surely enhance and widen the appetite of your kittens. This is good because you are actually teaching them to expand their food pallets thus lessening the possibility of raising such picky kittens.
7. Don’t be a pushover. Kittens can sometimes be a little bratty, strident and unpleasantly presumptuous. Make them understand who the authority in the house is. If they did something wrong, make it a point to convey to them that you disapprove with their actions. Don’t yell at them but be firm in saying ‘No’ or in expressing your point. Even with pets, discipline should be in the list in raising kittens.
8. Be their hero. Protect them at all cost and they’ll love you for the rest of their lives. Most of time cats are scared of thunder and lightning so when it’s pouring rain check them once in a while.
9. Through thick and thin, for better or worse, be with them. Sure, you’ll have moments of irritation or you’ll get so mad you want to bring them back to the pet shop but contain yourself. Your negative feelings will pass but your love for the kittens won’t. 10. Go visit a vet. If human needs an executive check-up then kittens also need it too.
